The extension of the Alaska Railroad from Fairbanks, Alaska, to Whitehorse, Yukon, 
Canada, has been proposed through Alaska House Bill 241. At Whitehorse, the proposed 
railroad would join the existing White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad allowing 
for a 
tidewater connection at Skagway, Alaska. However, White Pass track gauge is non-
standard and an overhaul of the entire railroad infrastructure would be necessary 
to 
accommodate the proposed rail link. This project considers the process and feasibility 
of 
this conversion.
